Q: What does the college do to maintain a safe environment?
A: Melba College has a zero tolerance for child abuse. Everyone working at the college is responsible for the care and protection of students and reporting information about suspected child abuse. We implement a range of strategies to embed this commitment in our culture.There is also a zero tolerance of bullying and harassment in all its forms.Our comprehensive, integrated Wellbeing program helps perpetuate our safe, nurturing environment. Our Code of Practice, Student Engagement and Inclusion policy, Emergency Management Plan, Critical Incident Response plan and First Aid/medical policies further outline our whole school approach to proactive student safety and the action we will take in the event of an incident.

Q: Do students wear a uniform?

A: Melba College is committed to facilitating the progress of each child along the learning continuum. Our personalised learning approach caters for the full range of student needs, interests and aspirations. We hold all students to high expectations which contributes to their success.We also offer different pathways for senior students including the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and Vocational and Educational Training (VET) options.

A: We promote holistic learning through our broad co-curricular program including camps and tours, sporting competitions, international travel opportunities, debating, the annual musical production, leadership opportunities, and the instrumental music program and marching band.

A: No. While the Melba College experience attracts enrolments and we are expecting a population increase, our sub-school structure and wellbeing program ensures all students are known and supported to achieve their full potential.
Q: How can parents/guardians contribute to college life?
A: Student success at school depends on the cooperative partnership of parents with the college. Taking an interest in your child’s learning and participating in parent/student/teacher interviews is critical as is supporting any behavioural plans required.Parents are also encouraged to participate in a range of voluntary capacities.
