Victorian Police Youth Corps

ADVANCE is a youth development program that provides opportunities for young people to work in partnership with community organisations on a series of activities that contribute to building their community.

At Melba College we are very fortunate to be linked with the Knox Police Station as our community group. This enables the students to work closely with Police Officers from the station and to graduate at the end of the year at the Victorian Police Academy as Victorian Police Youth Corps Members.

The VPYC/Advance program is a one year program that aims to offer students invaluable new life skills and exposure to a variety of activities. Throughout this time students will take part in camps, excursions, community service, fund-raising, level one first aid course and personal extension, co-operative and team work tasks. These activities aim to develop the student’s interpersonal and personal skills such as teamwork, leadership and creative and logical thinking.
